TEMPO-oxidized cellulose beads for cationic dye adsorption

نویسندگان

چکیده

Toxic organic dyes present in wastewater should be removed before discharge. In this study, TEMPO-oxidized, regenerated cellulose beads were prepared using a simple falling ball technique for cationic methylene blue (MB) removal. The obtained characterized various analytical techniques. results indicated that TEMPO-oxidized displayed porous structures with high content of carboxylic acid groups. Thus, the negatively charged can effectively adsorb MB an adsorption capacity 495 mg/g at starting concentration 100 mg/L. This one-step process achieved near-complete removal pH 7, indicating strong electrostatic interactions between and oxidized beads. experimental data well described by Langmuir isotherm model Pseudo-second-order model. fabricated exhibit great potential practical application dye from wastewater.

Adsorption and desorption of cationic malachite green dye on cellulose nanofibril aerogels.

Ultra-light aerogels have been assembled from cellulose nanofibrils into hierarchically macroporous (several hundred μm) honeycomb cellular structure surrounded with mesoporous (8-60nm) thin walls. The high specific surface (193m2/g) and surface carboxyl content (1.29mmol/g) of these aerogels were demonstrated to be highly capable of removing cationic malachite green (MG) dye from aqueous media...

Humic acid adsorption onto cationic cellulose nanofibers for bioinspired removal of copper(II) and a positively charged dye.

Waste pulp residues are herein exploited for the synthesis of a sorbent for humic acid (HA), which is a major water pollutant. Cellulose pulp was etherified with a quaternary ammonium salt in water thereby introducing positive charges onto the surface of the pulp fibers, and subsequently mechanically disintegrated into high surface area cellulose nanofibers (CNF). CNF with three different charg...

Limulus amebocyte lysate assay for endotoxins by an adsorption method with polycation-immobilized cellulose beads.

To assay lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) in solutions containing Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL)-inhibiting or LAL-enhancing compounds, we developed a selective endotoxin (LPS) assay using poly(epsilon-lysine)-immobilized cellulose beads (PL-Cellufine) and LAL. The PL-Cellufine can adsorb LPSs in a solution containing certain compounds (NaCl, proteins and amino acids) at an ionic strength of mu = 0.0...

Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of kappa-Carrageenan Beads Containing Silver Nanoparticles with Dye Adsorption and Antibacterial Properties

In this work, we used a simple and totally green method for synthesizing silver nanoparticles using kappa-carrageenan as reducing and stabilizing agent. The beads were prepared in aqueous medium by microwave heating, and then followed by cross-linking with K+ cations without using any additional toxic and expensive chemical agents. The preparation method of the carrageenan-based beads is easy, ...

Effect of activation factors on adsorption of cationic dye, methylene blue, by activated bentonite

The aim of this investigation was to study the relationship between activation factors and adsorption of cationic dye, methylene blue MB, by activated bentonite. The adsorption index was investigated as a function of acid type, time and temperature. A commercial bentonite was selected as a starting material and the effect of heat treatment on MB adsorption were determined in a batch setup. Thou...
